b. Performance test. Before testing, the contractor shall prepare a maintenance schedule. Unless otherwise specified in the maintenance schedule, the auger shall operate as specified herein without maintenance. The auger shall demonstrate its ability to clear blockages at 25 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent, and 100 percent of the maximum rod travel distance. At the maximum rod travel distance, the blockage shall be increased as necessary to demonstrate proper operation of the automatic obstruction response sensor. The equipment(s) shall perform satisfactorily without any malfunction.
c. Road test. The equipment, with all necessary attachments and accessories, shall be towed by a vehicle at a speed of not less than 50 mph on a straight run and at a speed of not less than 35 mph through a curve marked for that speed run on paved road to demonstrate towing, turning, and tracking ability. The equipment shall show no evidence of instability.
d. Engine and hydraulic system test. The auger shall be operated for not less than one hour with the engine being stopped and started and the controls operated as many times as necessary to determine ease of operation, effectiveness, and responsiveness, and that the engine and rod actuating mechanism operate promptly and with neither restriction nor malfunction.
e. Packaging inspection. The equipment(s) shall be inspected to verify conformance to the packaging requirements.
Preservation, packaging. packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
