MIL-H-45193D
flow of air in accordance with the requirements specified herein at a volume of
at least 20 cubic feet per minute when operated in an ambient temperature of
+75°F
*
3.5.1 Operational cycle. The heater gun shall be capable of withstanding,
without damage or malfunction, eight successive operation cycles with the small
heat reflector attached. Each cycle shall consist of 45 minutes on and 15 minutes
off , and shall be set for the temperatures listed below.
*
3.5.2 Temperature stability. Size 1 heater guns shall provide air at
25°F within two minutes of the heater being activated. Size 2 heater guns shall
provide air at
25°F within two minutes of the heater being activated.
Size 3 heater guns shall provide air at +1OOO°F
25°F within two minutes of the
heater being activated. Upon attaining any desired operational temperature, that
temperature shall vary no more than
25°F without adjusting the heater gun for
another operational temperature.
3.5.3 Dielectric strength. The heater gun shall withstand, without damage,
a root mean square (rms) voltage of 1,000 volts plus twice its rated voltage
applied for a period of one minute between each insulated circuit and the heater
gun body. The voltage shall be a frequency of 60 Hertz (Hz).
*
3.5.4 Physical dimensions. The heater gun shall have physical dimensions
that allow it to fit into a space no larger than 16 inches long by 12 inches high
by 6 inches deep with the electrical cord attached to and stowed with the heater
gun, and with the rest stand not attached to the body. The heater gun shall weigh
no more than four pounds with the rest stand attached.
3.6 Detail of components.
The heater gun shall consist primarily of the
following major components:
(a)
Body, with attachable stand, and handle
(b)
Blower and motor
(c)
Heating element
(d)
Electric control switch
(e)
power supply cord
(f)
Air regulator
(g)
Heat reflectors
*
3.6.1 Body and handle. The body and handle shall be fabricated of materials
capable of withstanding the temperature and performance requirements specified
herein. The handle shall be designed for easy handling and to perform the
operation specified herein. The heater gun body shall incorporate a positively
attached stand upon which the heater gun may rest stably during use or cool-down.
The heater gun shall provide useable air, in accordance with the requirements
specified herein, in either the hand held position or the rest stand position.
The stand shall permit the heater gun to be positioned at any point within the 90
degree range between the angle parallel to the rest surface and the angle
perpendicular to the rest surface. When attached to the heater gun, the stand
shall not interfere with the normal operation of the heater gun.
